Fusso Coat has always defied categorisation and labeling. It’s no coincidence that our most popular product has "Coat" in its name, because its properties make it... not really a wax at all!

Certified by the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) with durability rated at 12 months, the product is more accurately placed in the category of broadly understood coatings. In its most popular formula, Fusso Coat 12 Months is a fluoropolymer coating, specially processed to give it the form of a user-friendly wax. The well-known black Fusso Coat tin is the symbol of this product line, but the product didn’t always have this formula.

A revolution that continues

Soft99 fans who have read the history of our brand will know exactly why we so often mention the year 1990 when talking about Fusso Coat. That’s when the Japanese began a revolution in car care that continues to this day.

At a time when silicone and resin-based waxes were common, the newly developed protective agent was fluorine-based. Repelling both water and oil, the first Fusso Coat was able to provide a long-lasting, non-staining, full-coverage coating that could easily be applied by hand, offering durability of about 90 days.

Initially, Fusso Coat came in a semi-liquid form, similar to today’s Fusso Coat F7 version. At the time, it was a complete revolution in a market dominated by simpler chemical waxes that, at best, offered one month of protection. Fusso Coat raised the bar significantly, offering up to 3 months of protection.

Even back then, the Japanese thought of everything: the small package included a handy sponge applicator. That’s why even today, every Soft99 wax tin comes with an application accessory.

Over time, the production process was updated, and Fusso Coat gained a more user-friendly wax formula, which is still known and appreciated today.
