Product launch: Rain Drop Ceramic Spray – facts, details & how to apply

Do you love the Bazooka, or are you a Tornado Vortex fan? We have some excellent news for you! Rain Drop Ceramic Spray has appeared on the horizon – a new, easy-to-use multi-purpose spray coating. Here's everything worth knowing about our biggest launch of 2026.

In short: we're moving with the times. More and more people want maximum results in the simplest possible form. And what could be simpler than a spray product? Everyone who has ever used a quick detailer knows the "spray and wipe" formula. Rain Drop Ceramic Spray is, however, far, far more than just another ordinary quick detailer.

Rain Drop Ceramic Spray: features and properties

Let's start with the name: Rain Drop Ceramic Spray is the first Soft99 product since the Smooth Egg spray range to be developed with ceramic coating compatibility in mind. Those in the know will certainly be pleased to see an SiO2 (silicon dioxide) based product joining our lineup.

The product works brilliantly alongside ceramic coatings, supplementing their structure and extending their lifespan. It also performs effortlessly over a previously applied wax, including Fusso Coat 12 Months. The new product adopts the classic formula in a convenient trigger spray bottle – something many fans of the original Rain Drop, the memorable Bazooka in its pressurised gas canister, have been suggesting to us for a long time.

Now for the specifics. Rain Drop Ceramic Spray protects paintwork for up to 5 months and glass for up to 2 months. The dramatic leap in effectiveness compared to the original Rain Drop is down to the new siloxane-based formula and the self-smoothing technology, more on which below. Beyond solid protection, the new Rain Drop delivers an incredible glassy shine, enhanced paint depth, and above all a breathtaking water beading display: the droplet spectacle in the rain (or during a quick garage demo for friends and neighbours) is comparable to the effect delivered by professional ceramic coatings.

For paintwork, glass... and even the interior?!

Just like its predecessors, the new Rain Drop is an exceptionally versatile performer. It's applied wet, incorporated into the washing process by leaving the vehicle wet after rinsing off shampoo or other cleaning products.

It works superbly on paintwork and glass, while also protecting plastics, chrome elements, alloy wheels and even plastic interior surfaces – something entirely new not only for Soft99, but for the entire segment of such products in the car care industry.

Self-smoothing technology: what's it all about?

Soft99 fans will no doubt be familiar with the RAS Shield from the original Rain Drop, as well as the improved G-RAS version found in the Rain Drop Tornado Vortex. The RAS abbreviation (Repellency, Adsorption, Smoothness) refers to Soft99's patented chemical technology, developed at the company's R&D centre in Kobe, Japan.

It was this chemical technology that set the Rain Drop range apart from the competition and made it a bestseller. Now an even more effective version has made its way into Rain Drop Ceramic Spray.

The most important attribute of the new technology is its self-smoothing action, which has further simplified and enhanced the application experience. Applied to a wet vehicle, the product reacts with the water and allows it to evaporate more quickly, acting as a drying aid. At the same time, the water makes it easier to spread the product more efficiently, while the molecules within it level out under the action of wiping with a microfibre cloth. The result is immediate surface drying, a visible deepening of the paint colour, enhanced gloss and an irresistible hydrophobic effect.

How to apply Rain Drop Ceramic Spray?

With the new Rain Drop Ceramic Spray, we've simplified the application process – though it's still worth paying attention to the recommended application order (glass first, then paintwork), as well as the recommended curing and water-free period of 12 to 24 hours after application.

Tip
Never apply the product in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.
  1. Wash the vehicle thoroughly, rinsing away sand, mud and shampoo residue, and leave the vehicle wet.
  2. Shake the bottle vigorously before use and turn the nozzle to the ON position.
  3. Spray the product directly onto the surface. Always follow this order: GLASS first, then PAINTWORK.
  4. Immediately after spraying, spread the product and wipe the surface with a clean, absorbent microfibre cloth, wringing it out frequently to remove excess water. When applying to dry paintwork, the cloth must first be dampened with water and wrung out thoroughly.
  5. Do not spray the product directly onto hard-to-reach elements (e.g. bumper grilles, alloy wheels) – apply it to the microfibre cloth first.
  6. After application, keeping the coating free from water contact for 12–24 hours will ensure maximum durability.
Tip
If streaks appear on the paintwork due to excess product, rinse the microfibre cloth thoroughly in clean water, wring it out firmly and wipe the affected area again.
