We're changing the rules in the world of glass coatings. With the new Glaco QAD, we're radically cutting down application time by integrating it into the hand washing process. In this blog post, you'll find everything you need to know about the new Glaco QAD!
The new Glaco QAD coating from Soft99 makes its European debut on 12 May 2026, paired with the popular QJUTSU Creamy Shampoo. The two products come together for good reason – they complement each other perfectly. But wait. How so? A coating and a shampoo? Welcome to the world of Coat & Wash! Below you'll find everything you need to know about the new Glaco QAD.
Q-AD technology
Behind the mysterious abbreviation Q-AD lies "Quick Adhesion & Drying" – fast bonding and fast drying. What does that mean in practice? Let's trace the process that led to the creation of Glaco QAD:
Soft99's engineers set themselves the challenge of creating a glass coating that:
- can be applied without any prior glass preparation – no need for Glaco Glass Compound Roll On or a similar deep-cleaning and glass prep product,
- can withstand being washed with shampoo just one minute after application, including scrubbing with a car sponge,
- delivers the Glaco hydrophobic effect that lasts at least 10 weeks,
- is easy to use and can be applied with the iconic felt applicator familiar from other Glaco glass coatings.
When you think about it, creating a glass coating like this is no small technological feat! Fortunately for the Japanese, it's child's play.

Q-AD technology is the chemical formula that gives Glaco QAD its exceptional resilience, endowing the coating with unique properties: fast drying on unprepared glass, resistance to shampoo and sponge scrubbing, and a strong hydrophobic effect from the very moment you rinse the car. On top of that, the technology helps leave glass with a crystal-clear finish, free from any greasy or hazy residue. Zero buffing, zero streaks. That's Glaco QAD.
What's Coat & Wash all about?
Glaco QAD isn't just another traditional coating – it's the pioneer of a new subcategory: Coat & Wash. This new concept is a direct response to one of the biggest frustrations among car care users: a reluctance to go through the tedious process of buffing off coatings, and the fear of making mistakes and dealing with the consequences.
With Coat & Wash, we're saying: relax – there's nothing to get wrong here!
The essence of Coat & Wash is best explained by the unique application process of Glaco QAD, which we've integrated into the shampoo wash – one of the most common and most familiar car care routines for owners of cars and other vehicles. Everyone washes their car. And if you wash your car, Glaco QAD is for you.
QAD is applied to glass that has been generally cleaned of hard dirt (sand, bird droppings, etc.), without worrying about thorough glass preparation – something that's essential with other coatings. Once the coating has been applied, wait 1–3 minutes and you can get on with washing the car.

Don't worry – the sponge won't remove the coating, it'll level it! The hydrophobic spectacle of pearly beading droplets will appear the moment you start rinsing the foam off the car, and you'll enjoy it for a full 10 weeks. And that's it. That's Coat & Wash.
Shape and ergonomics
We went with a classic, streamlined and of course orange bottle with a generous capacity of 120 ml. It might not look like much, but that's the same volume as another best-selling coating – Glaco Roll On Large – which is, fittingly enough, considered large. The bottle sits comfortably in the hand, and its distinctive touch is a blue protective cap that can be fitted and removed using a twist mechanism on the underside. A simple solution that any Glaco fan will recognise from other products in the range.
The felt applicator deserves a closer look. Its distinctive eye-shaped design was the "star" of our teaser campaign on social media. Thanks to its pointed corners, the Glaco QAD head covers the corners of windows with ease.

The felt tip is also removable. In a coating designed to be applied to unprepared glass, this is particularly important – the felt may need cleaning after use. Simply remove the felt tip, rinse it with a neutral pH detergent and leave it to dry. A single bottle of Glaco QAD covers up to 10 windscreens, so there'll be plenty of opportunities for future applications.
How to apply Glaco QAD?
While you'll find the full application instructions on the back label of the box and in the "How to use" section of our online shop, the launch of the new Glaco wouldn't be complete without a "How to apply" video.
Summary
In detailing, the word "revolution" is often overused – but you have to admit: Glaco QAD really is something unique. We hope the new glass coating will win you over. It's an excellent introduction not only to the world of car care, but also to better visibility in the rain and, by extension, safer driving – very much in the spirit of our DRIVE SAFE campaign.
