The easiest ceramic coating to apply? QJUTSU!

The easiest ceramic coating to apply? QJUTSU!

Since launching in February 2020, QJUTSU coatings from Soft99 have been applied to thousands of cars across Europe – from everyday commuters to rare 1980s supercars. From the very beginning, we focused on two perhaps most important factors: ease of use and straightforward application. What's the secret behind these Japanese coatings?

We introduced the new QJUTSU coating range during a series of QJUTSU Tour events. On 24 February 2020, we unveiled QJUTSU for the first time. With a new line consisting of three products, we set our sights on the needs of vehicle owners across the continent – prioritising ease and speed of application, outstanding visual results, and excellent hydrophobic performance. So why are QJUTSU quartz coatings worth your attention?

20 years of experience in quartz coatings

First things first – let's put things in chronological order. When it comes to coatings, Soft99's Japanese engineers have more than a little experience under their belts. The company took its first steps in this product category as far back as 2001, developing a range of quartz coatings under the G'zox product series, available exclusively through a network of detailing studios of the same name.

It's worth noting that this was at the very beginning of the 21st century – practically prehistoric times in the world of detailing. Those invaluable years of experience paid off nearly two decades later, when the Japanese team set about creating the QJUTSU coating range, designed specifically for the European market.

There's good reason we call these coatings Japanese. The products are manufactured, bottled and packaged at Soft99's production facility in the city of Sanda, in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.

What does "QJUTSU" mean? Japanese DNA

We love highlighting Soft99's Japanese identity at every turn, and QJUTSU is no exception. We gave it a unique, memorable name with real depth of meaning. The first letter, Q, comes from the word quartz – the technological foundation of QJUTSU's protective coatings. The remaining part, jūtsu, is taken from Japanese and means "skill" or "technique."

The name came about from an attempt to combine quartz with the highly specialised skills and techniques that detailers are known for. And besides – the letter Q, with its association with the word "quality," simply appealed to us!

JIS – a standard like no other

Speaking of quality, it's worth measuring it by universal standards. That's why QJUTSU is assessed by the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC) – a government body that issues certifications for chemical products unlike any other in the world.

In Japan, all product properties promised in descriptions or on packaging may only be stated on the basis of test results obtained under laboratory conditions, as shown in the attached photo, which depicts a machine testing the durability of waxes by simulating accelerated weathering conditions. There is no room here for marketing half-truths – JIS certification guarantees the highest quality and technological transparency.

QJUTSU Body Coat

This is the more accessible QJUTSU coating, offering durability of up to 12 months. It has been developed to combine simplicity and speed of application with excellent protective properties.

It's an excellent solution for anyone seeking the right balance between top-tier paint protection technology, performance and price. Body Coat is also a great option for those looking to begin their journey with professional protective coatings.

QJUTSU Body Coat Matte

Body Coat Matte is a 24-month coating developed specifically for popular matte finishes. It maintains its properties on both factory matte paintwork and wrapping films – something professionals working across a wide variety of projects will certainly appreciate.

Body Coat Matte primarily provides protection against dirt, mechanical damage and chemical degradation, while also delivering hydrophobic properties. At the same time, you can rest assured about the final result – the coating does not alter the visual appearance of the surface it covers, so what's matte stays matte. If you're looking for a coating that protects your car without changing its look, Body Coat Matte is the perfect choice.

QJUTSU Body Coat Pro

The most advanced of the QJUTSU coatings is a feast for the eyes. You'll be treated not only to powerfully repelled water droplets and a glassy shine, but also the number "24" – indicating just how many months of protection Body Coat Pro delivers. It's no coincidence that the finest QJUTSU coating found its way onto the paintwork of an utterly breathtaking Ferrari F40.

Body Coat Pro is above all an excellent option for detailers. The application process is unique – alongside the larger bottle, we've included a small bottle containing a so-called activator. The coating itself is exceptionally easy to apply, meaning Body Coat Pro is accessible not only to professionals but also to those just starting out in detailing. As an interesting aside, Body Coat Pro achieves a water contact angle of as much as 105°! Water beading enthusiasts – you know what to do!

QJUTSU Wheel & Light Coat

The name of this coating immediately brings wheels to mind – but Wheel & Light Coat is capable of far more! Its defining characteristic is resistance to high temperatures and the resulting repulsion of dirt particles. Wheel & Light Coat retains its gloss-enhancing and protective properties at temperatures of up to 550°C. This makes it perfectly suited not only to wheels that heat up during driving and braking, but also to brake callipers, exhaust tips, and exposed metal components in the engine bay.

Its exceptional durability also makes it an ideal choice for protecting headlight and taillight lenses – among the most wear-prone exterior components on any car or motorcycle.

QJUTSU Universal

Soft99's 70th anniversary is a moment to reflect on the brand's mission – to create products that are effective, innovative and accessible to all. It's with that mission in mind that QJUTSU Universal was brought to market. Easy to apply, suited to the needs of almost any user, and advanced enough to meet the demands of modern motoring.

Paintwork, PPF films, matte finishes and many other surfaces including unpainted plastics and chrome trim – Universal has an application for almost every surface.

Universal is a single-component, quick-to-use coating for protecting paintwork, PPF films, matte finishes and many other surfaces including unpainted plastics and chrome trim. The coating is remarkably simple to apply and requires no special conditions either during or after application.

Durability reaches up to 18 months, though with proper care, peak performance can be maintained for even longer. Regular hand washing is recommended, and it's worth using a dedicated quick detailer periodically – such as Rain Drop.

What else is in the QJUTSU range?

QJUTSU Ultrasoft Sponge

Many detailers swear that nothing but soft, gentle microfibre should ever touch a car's bodywork. The QJUTSU sponge has changed the minds of many such professionals.

Its three-layer structure features three different levels of porosity, each capable of retaining foam, water and dirt within its fibres without scratching the paintwork. Incredibly gentle by nature, this unique sponge has proven to be an inspired choice for use on coated paintwork. Smaller and more manageable than the large, coarse sponges found in supermarkets, the QJUTSU Ultrasoft Sponge is directly comparable to the softest wash mitts on the market.

QJUTSU Creamy Shampoo

Soft99 fans will no doubt recognise the distinctive white bottle straight away. QJUTSU Creamy Shampoo, which made its debut during the flagship Protection Time promotion in 2023, takes clear inspiration from the well-known and well-loved Neutral Creamy Shampoo – and for good reason. The QJUTSU shampoo brings even greater ease of use and enhanced compatibility with waxes and coatings.

For owners of vehicles protected with QJUTSU coatings, a safe shampoo from the same range makes the perfect addition to the detailing kit – taking the guesswork out of every thorough wash of an already-protected car.

QJUTSU Clay Bar

The paint clay bar is one of many Japanese innovations that have made their way into the detailing mainstream. This soft, pliable bar is used to lift deeply embedded metallic contaminants from paintwork – it's the clay bar that eliminates the roughness and gritty feeling you notice when running your hand across the paint. And if you're going to clay bar a car before applying a coating, it's worth doing it gently – and there's no better tool for that than the QJUTSU Clay Bar.

Summary

What does the future hold for the QJUTSU range? Beyond the certainty that it will continue to grow and develop, we can't say too much just yet! For now, we're placing 5 outstanding coatings into the hands of enthusiasts and detailers alike – products that, thanks to their ease of use, can comfortably find a home in even a beginner detailer's collection.
